Thirty seasons of records, traditions, and questionable decisions. This is the all-time ledger.
Thirty seasons, one year at a time.
Sixteen guys, a motel called the Gateway, and a Labour Day weekend in Malone that just kept happening every fall after that.
The story goes that it started around 1995 or 1996 with sixteen guys heading down to Malone, New York on the first weekend after Labour Day for a few rounds of golf, good company, and a handful of beer. Everyone stayed at a motel called the Gateway, where a continental breakfast meant coffee and donuts somebody picked up from the local shop, and Sunday nights meant a prime rib dinner at Gordie's Gazebo. There was a brief run at a course called Partridge Run before the group settled back into Malone for good.
The Gateway Motel, then and now — the building was demolished in 2023.
The next generation starts showing up alongside their fathers, and with them comes Icing -- an ambush drinking tradition that needs to be anonymous and discreet to count. New guys have historically been welcomed with false teeth dropped in their drink at the bar, a bit credited to Billie.

GS-vs-Ultras matches start getting recorded shot for shot — the earliest year with full per-match data on file, and the starting point for every leaderboard and rivalry on this site.
Leo Siltanen passes away, and that same year the group starts the Friendly Finn in his memory -- a Sunday 4-man scramble played the way Leo liked to play: everybody's best shot counts, nobody gets left behind.
Leo Siltanen passed away in 2015, and that same year the group started the Friendly Finn in his memory -- a Sunday 4-man scramble, no team score on the line, played the way Leo liked to play: everybody's best shot counts, nobody gets left behind. The Natural Light and Zyn "sponsorship" gag on the home page isn't a new idea, either -- a 2015 trip recap literally floated "sponsored by Labatt's Ice" as a joke. Some traditions just get better beer.
The Friendly Finn splits off into its own separate, non-scored stroke-play event — no longer counted toward the season standings.
Brian McGeachie, who co-ran the Malone Fall Classic for more than 20 years, passes away. The trip keeps going every fall because of the standard he and the rest of that generation set for it.
The 30th season on record — Team GS and the Ultras finish the year dead even, 8–8.
The next trip is already taking shape — see the draft Teams & Schedule (not final yet).
Team GS vs. Team UV, going back to the first season these were tracked as two named sides.
The 94–110 individual match record (Ultras lead) is computed directly from the round-by-round matchup sheets for every year that has one — 2013–2019, 2022, 2023, and part of 2025. 2020, 2021, and 2024 only have final rosters and team scores on file, not per-match results, so those years aren't in this count yet.
Final team score by season, for every year with a recorded tally on file.
2020, 2021, and 2024 aren't shown — final rosters are on file for those years, but no numeric team score survived. 2025 ended in an 8–8 tie.
Attendance, 1996–2025. Phil Tomsett has missed almost nothing in thirty years.

Built from every individually-recorded GS-vs-UV match from 2013 on (2-man, 3-man, and 4-man scrambles all count -- every opposing pairing in a match is tallied). Sunday results are excluded once the Friendly Finn became its own separate, non-scored event (2015 on) -- but the 2013 and 2014 Sunday scrambles are included, since those predate the Friendly Finn and were regular scored match play. Only pairings with three or more meetings are shown. Record reads wins–losses–ties for the first-named player. Years without per-match detail on file aren't included, so this isn't a complete accounting of every round ever played -- just the best one we can build from the sheets.
Headline numbers pulled straight from the results archive.
Individual match-play margins (like "3&2") were never recorded on the sheets — only who won, lost, or halved. So "biggest blowout" here means the biggest final team score gap for a season, not a single lopsided match. Of the 301 matches on file, 238 have a confirmed result; the rest are scheduled pairings whose outcome never made it onto a sheet.
The individual honors, such as they are.
Greg Dodge, 6 straight. Closed out 2014 on a two-match tear (Tuesday AM and PM), then swept all four of his matches in 2015 — six wins in a row with no gap in the record between them.
Brett Oderkirk. The only player on the books every single year from 2013 through 2025 — not one missed trip in thirteen straight seasons.
−12, 2025. Mitch Thibodeau, Roberto Sacilotto, Greg Dodge & Nick Dodge won a playoff at −12 after the runner-up foursome matched them shot for shot at the same score. Only two years on record (2019 and 2025) have an actual number attached to the winning score, so this is the best of what's been written down, not necessarily the best round ever played.
Phil Tomsett, 28 trips across thirty seasons, with Brian McGeachie right behind at 27.
